The aim of this challenge is to design and build a 4x4 vehicle able to pass several specific criteria and succeed in a testing off-road course. To do this we have to create a vacuum formed body mold out of plastic, which is designed using CAD software then produce the vehicle using wood. Finally, in order to complete the design, we have to create certain electronic circuits to enable the car’s systems: automatic lights and tilt sensor to work successfully.
During this project, we have been supported by several great sponsors in multiple different ways. To find out more information about our sponsors please view our Sponsorship page.

Why join the 4x4 Challenge?
We were inspired to join the Land Rover 4x4 Challenge in Schools for several reasons. Some of these reasons were because we had heard about it from previous events and activities, such as open days. We also enjoy doing practical work and problem-solving, this enables us to present our capabilities and design techniques to other inspired people. We have all found this competition thoroughly enjoyable and extremely beneficial for future career preparations. Our success in the Development Class and so far in the Professional Class has also boosted our confidence and provided us with ideas to further develop our vehicle for the 2019 World Finals. This experience has inspired us as young engineers to proceed with a Design & Technology GCSE.
